Q: How long before my website is online with JME Hosting?

A: That depends on a lot of factors. However, once the initial site design and content are ready, the site can be online within 24-48 hours.

Q: How long does the design process take?

A: The design process is generally driven by you, the client. We want to ensure that the site looks the way you want it to look, that it functions the way you'd like it to function, and has the information you need to get to your customers. Design can take as little as a week or more than a month depending on your wants and needs.

Q: I already have a domain, how can I host with JME Hosting?

A: It is fairly straightforward. First, we'll work out the site content and design. We will then pre-configure your site within our environment. Then you'll just need to make a few change to your domain settings with the company you purchased it from. We can guide you along on this process, it's not difficult. After a day or two your visitors will reach your site now hosted with JME Hosting.

Q: Does JME Hosting offer email?

A: At this time we do not feel that our email product is ready for prime-time. In the meantime, we reccommend Google Apps for Business. 

Glossary

If you're new to web hosting, here are some terms and definitions you might need to know.

• Bandwidth - The number of data bytes that move between the web server and the client workstation.
• Disk Space - Like on your PC, the amount of space used on the web server's local hard drive.
• Domain Name - An easy to remember name that directs users to a site. A typical domain name consists of three parts. The server ("www"), the organization ("google"), and the type of domain ("com").
• HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language; this is the formatting code that makes webpages look the way they do.
• HTTP - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol; this is how the web pages are sent from the web server to the client computer.
• LAMP - Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP; the "LAMP stack" consists of the software neccessary to run a full-featured dynamic website. JME Hosting utilizes the LAMP stack.
• SSL - Secure Sockets Layer; a set of software keys that allow for reliable secure communication between a website and a client computer. All information transmitted over an SSL connection is encrypted and is unreadable by a third-party.
• URL - Uniform Resource Locator; the full address for a page on the Internet. http://wwww.jmetechnology.comis the URL for the front page of our site. http://www.jmetechnology.com/index.php/faqglossary is the URL for this page.
