JME Hosting takes a dim view of unsolicted commerical email (UCE) or Spam. We will not allow it. Period.
If your business is based on mass email, please seek out a different hosting partner.
JME Hosting utilizes a shared hosting platform. So, if one site is blocked, all other sites will be as well. Additionally, JME Hosting's servers could be disconnected by our service provider. Therefore, if any customer causes JME Hosting's services to be disrupted they will be liable for all costs associated with "cleaning up the mess". Those costs could include service credits for other clients, costs to re-establish Internet service, etc. By hosting with JME Hosting you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and to pay any associated costs should your environment be the root casue (knowinly or not) of a block or disconnection. And that you will pay any such costs without litigation within 30 days of receipt of an invoice.
However, email is also a great way to keep in touch with current customers or reach out to new leads. As such we have a few tips to avoid being labeled as a Spammer. First, look through the list below, and if you can answer YES to any of the questions you will probably be labeled a spammer. (Hat tip to Constant Contact).
- Are you importing a purchased list of ANY kind?
- Are you sending to non-specific addresses such as:
-
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
,
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
,
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
,

, or other general addresses.
- Are you sending to distribution lists or mailing lists which send indirectly to a variety of email addresses?
- Are you mailing to anyone who has not explicitly agreed to join your mailing list?
- Have you falsified your originating address or transmission path information?
- Have you used a third party email address or domain name without their permission?
- Does your email's subject line contain false or misleading information?
- Does your email fail to provide a working link to unsubscribe?
- Are you failing to process any unsubscribe requests that come to you via a reply to your email within 10 days or the request?
Now, if you want to use email to do marketing we suggest that you partner with a reputable e-mail marketing company. This site has a list of just a few. We currently don't use any of these services, so we can't recommend one over another. But all of these companies will help you both get your word out, and avoid becoming a spammer.
To avoid any issues, especially those resulting from a mis-understanding, obtain a seperate domain name to use with your e-mail marketing campaigns.
